Paying for Plastic Bags?

- Did you hear Geant will start charging for plastic bags starting July 1st?
- What?
- That’s great right
- So you now have to pay for plastic bags?
- Or buy reusable ones which they sell for 500 fils for a small one and 800 fils for a big one.
- But what if you’re doing your grocery shopping for the month?
- You still can use reusable bags
- How many reusable bags should I buy? I’m sorry, but that is so inconvenient. They’re only making us pay more to get the plastic bags.
It is a bit. Using woven bags might not give the consumer the ultimate ease and handiness of plastic bags, but is that really all there is to care about?

Hi!
Both Jawad and Geant will be charging a nominal fee for plastics bags which admittedly even I cannot do without (frozen and fresh products - meat, fish, poultry). However the fee goes back to the Public Commission which in turn will donate the amount to charity.
I know the change of shopping bags and the fee have received considerable resistance from several consumers and even among the retail staff but believe me, it’s just as handy as the small bags.
I do a great deal of monthly shopping as well and found out that 2 large bags and a small one fits perfectly for the basic needs of a family of 4.
Cheers!
You know most people just don’t get it.
When its free they abuse it, and when it cost money the they abuse the ones that want to help the environment.
You could always use carton boxes or collapsible plastic crates.
We are 11 in or family and I only use re-usable bags.(got about 11 from all different shops)
Stop whinging and get on with it.
If it isn’t easy enough you don’t want to.
That is sooo childish.
I support charging for bags.
But all should do it, so you have to no matter what
